Something about the color red subliminally sends thoughts to our brain that are synonyms with love, lust, attraction, and even indulgence. The color red on a car pops like a pair of red bottoms pop on a female, but Honda red is something special all in itself. Here we will take a closer look at Mario's immaculate 2009 Civic Si FG2 Coupe.
Starting with what we can see from the outside, a Honda Factory Performance (HFP) full lip kit adds a subtle yet aggressive touch to the exterior. More subtleness can be seen upon closer inspection.
Like a set of red JDM Badges and AVS rain guards. The piece that grabbed my eye the most on the body is the Mugen RR rear spoiler. This spoiler just adds the right touch of aggresiveness to finish off the body.
Once we look beyond the Honda red paint, the contrast from the gold wheels immediately grab my attention. What we see here are a set of Work VS Mesh wheels. These wheels are super rare and super sought after, which for me; makes the whole exterior look smooth like velvet.
From the wheels, now let's see what has been done to the suspension. What gives this civic Si such a smooth low look are a set of Skunk2 Pro S II's. I've had a set of these myself and they do a great job handling the ride comfort and height duties. While an EMUSA camber kit keeps the wheels straight while cruising down the road.
Taking a look into the interior, we see the theme of clean and simple is carried over. Subtle modifications were made like the type R red door inserts, hydro dipped carbon fiber steering wheel and shifter bezel. It's the little things and the details that separate builds apart from one another.
A buddy Club short throw shifter is mated to a Downstar "El Chapo" shift knob and is finished off with a red bride shift boot. In the rear seats or lack there of a rear seat, an NRG harness bar and Sparco 3-pt harnesses are showcased.
When driving in the cockpit, power is translated to the wheels via an Exedy stage 1 clutch and flywheel combo. Power adders like a Skunk2 alpha header, vibrant exhaust and an K&N short ram intake free up the airflow of the k20 i-vtec motor.
All in all, Mario's Civic Si is a prime example of a clean and simple build. Like the batter of red velvet cupcakes, the execution of the modifications has been smooth as butter. And just like how a fat kid loves cake, I love Honda's and Mario's Civic Si is a beautiful example of a clean Honda build.
